چکیده
The upland farming communities in the Philippines are among vulnerable sectors to climate change impacts. Their agricultural production is generally rainfed, and their farms marginal areas with steep slopes prone soil erosion. Water scarcity a common perennial problem. To address need expressed by smallholder farmers, 11 rainwater harvesting facilities (RWHFs) were established three Albay Province, Philippines. project team facilitated establishment of RWHFs from two state universities, local government units, communities. Capacity development participatory planning implementation important approaches. This generated several lessons. These include essence multisectoral collaboration, comprised communities, colleges universities; value collective action farmers; effectiveness cross-farm visits on-site training; tapping locals for monitoring; integration sustainable land use management system sustain RWHFs; and, importance resource sharing carrying out activities. experiences lessons could be used as reference other programs replicating this initiative country.

Upland Rice and Allelopathy
Upland rice (Oryza sativa L.) is mainly grown in Asia, Africa and Latin America. Yield potential of upland rice is quite low and invariably this crop is subjected to many environmental stresses. Further, when upland rice is grown in monoculture for more than two to three years on the same land, allelopathy or autotoxicity is frequently reported. Allelopathy involves complex plant and plant chem...
متن کاملUpland Erosion Modeling
Significant advances in upland erosion modeling have been achieved in the past decade. The TREX (Two-dimensional Runoff, Erosion, and Export) watershed model has been developed at Colorado State University for the simulation of surface runoff from spatially and temporally distributed rainstorms on watersheds. The model has been applied in several countries with different climatic conditions. TR...

Abstract Lack of stored soil moisture is an essential factor in intensification of the problems of arid and semi-arid areas in Kohgiloyeh va Boyerahmad Province. In these areas, limited surface water and groundwater have rendered vast areas of the region’s fertile lands useless. Despite these problems, appropriate conditions can be provided to plant resistant and adapted species such as olive...
